Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of intelligence, achievement, memory, processes, and behaviour influencing one’s academic potential and performance. An assessment conducted by our staff will provide a detailed perspective of learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses. We will also provide a diagnosis, detailed report, and recommendations for maximizing performance at home and school.

This assessment is appropriate for the investigation of:

  • Specific Learning Disability
  • Gifted Learning Profile
  • ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

If behavioural or emotional issues are present, the full assessment will include measures of emotional and behavioural functioning.

The assessment may include measurement of cognitive ability, achievement, adaptive functioning, memory, executive function, attention, and other aspects of brain processing. Assessments conducted in our clinic may also include a quantitative EEG, which enables us to provide valuable information on brain performance.

The assessment begins with intake information and an interview. It is helpful if you can provide a copy of any prior assessment results, a recent report card, and writing sample. The full assessment takes approximately 8 to 10 hours and will be booked at your convenience over 2 or 3 days.

Two weeks following the last date of testing, you are invited to a results visit in which all testing results and diagnoses will be explained to you. A summary report will also be provided for you to take to your school or physician.

Please arrive for testing well prepared.

Intake forms must be completed before the initial interview is conducted. The best preparation is to ensure that you or your child have had a good night’s sleep and eaten breakfast.

Breaks are provided as needed. Please bring a drink and snack to maintain your energy level for optimal performance.
